MÅ – must

VIL –wish, will
e.g. Han vil
(ikke) ha te med melk - He will (not) have tea with milk
SKAL – a plan (will, shall)
e.g. Max skal
(ikke) vaere hjemme - Max shall (not) be home
BØR – ought to, should
