Lesson 11: SKAL DU HANDLE MAT I DAG? [PART 1]

Skal du handle mat i dag? Are you going grocery shopping today?
Skal du i butikken og kjøpe mat i dag? = Are you going to the store and buy food today?



A: Hvor kan jeg kjøpe et brød?  = Where can I buy a bread?
B: Selvfølgelig,  kan du kjøpe brød i matbuttiken  = Of course, you can buy bread in the grocery store

A: Jeg må kjøpe et godt brød. Hvilket er bra av alle disse brødvarer/brødslagene ("
brødslagene" better to use)? = I have to buy a good bread, which one is good from all this bread products?
B: Liker du loff eller grovbrød? = Do you like white bread or wholemeal bread?


A: Jeg vil gjerne ha et grovbrød, men jeg finner det ikke = I'd like a wholemeal bread, but I can't find it.
B: Kjempegodt grovbrød er der borte = Really good wholemeal bread is over there

A: Forresten, hvor mye koster grovbrød? = By the way, how much costs wholemeal bread?
B: Det koster 20 kr. - It costs 20 kr. 

A: Takk skal du ha, nå må jeg betale i kassen = Thank you, now I have to pay at checkout



When you buy something you say:

Jeg tar ___ - I'll take
eg. 

et eple - an apple
ei flaske mineralvann - a bottle of mineral water
en mandarin - mandarin


Jeg vil gjerne ha ____ - I’d like

eg. en flaske med melk, takk. = a bottle of milk, thanks


Jeg skal ha____ - I’ll have



When you buy a certain amount of product you say:

  • x kroner stykket - x kroner each (a piece)


e.g. 

Jeg tar et stykke ost - I take a piece of cheese
Jeg tar et stykke skinke. - I take a piece of ham.


Det koster ti kroner stykket - It costs ten kroner a piece/each


  • x kroner kiloet/liter - x kroner per kilo / liter


e.g. 

Jeg tar to liter melk - I'll take two liters of milk
Jeg tar tre kilo poteter - I'll take three kilograms of potatoes

Det koster ti kroner kiloet/kiloen ("kiloen" more common to say)/liter It costs ten kroner per kilo/ liter
